Who Holds the Registration#

When we buy a new domain for you, it is registered through our registrar account, with Aladdin21 listed as the registrant, and we act as the technical and billing contact so we can manage DNS and renewals while you subscribe. That is how our registrar works today; it is not a claim on your domain.

We will transfer the domain to a registrar account of your choosing, free of charge, whenever you ask - while you are a customer or when you leave. We do not ask for a reason and we do not make it a negotiation. The only delay is the ICANN transfer lock described below, which applies at every registrar and which we cannot waive.

If you would rather be the registrant from the first day, buy the domain yourself - we will tell you exactly what to buy and point it at your site at no charge. See “Existing Domains” below.

Costs and Renewals#

The registration cost is shown before you buy, and the renewal cost is disclosed before each renewal. If you cancel the Service but want to keep the domain, we transfer it to you and you pay future renewals at your new provider.

Leaving: Transfer vs. DNS#

If you leave, we help you transfer the domain out for free. Two different things are available and we explain both when you leave: (a) transfer - moving the domain to a registrar account of your choosing, after which you manage it entirely; and (b) DNS change - keeping the registration where it is but pointing the domain at another website host.

Note on timing: ICANN rules impose a 60-day transfer lock after a new registration, and moving the registration from us to you is itself a change of registrant, which can start that clock again. This is an industry rule that applies at every registrar, not ours - and during any lock we can still change DNS for you, so your website is never held hostage by it.

Existing Domains#

If you already own a domain, it stays exactly where it is and nothing about it changes hands. We send you the DNS records to add and where to add them; you or whoever manages your DNS adds them, and your site goes live. We never ask you to transfer an existing domain to us, and we never need access to your registrar account.

Expiration#

While you subscribe, we manage renewals so your domain does not accidentally expire, and we notify you ahead of each renewal charge.

If your subscription ends, we do not renew the domain again unless you ask us to. We hold the registration until its expiry date and will still transfer it to you, free, at any point before then - so a domain is never lost simply because you stopped replying. After it expires, registry rules (redemption periods and fees) apply and are outside our control.
